Topic Intro – 2:14
Today’s episode is going to get very personal for our co-host, Treva Yaccino. It’s going to explain why you missed a couple of episodes and something almost all of us will go through at some point.
Here are ten questions we worked through to uncover how to manage your energy when you’re in the middle of a crisis.
Question One – 3:09
Why don’t you tell us your story about what has gone on in your life the last couple of years that led up to the big crescendo this last month…..
4 of the 5 top stressors I experienced in the past year including the loss of your mother
Question Two – 4:55
Things looked like they were getting better but then went bad then good, then bad. What happened?
The cancer was under control then took a turn for the worse very quickly and she passed much sooner than expected.
Question Three – 6:38
Knowing what you know now, how did it take a hit on your energy and health?
Bryan’s Full Story – Episode 002
Treva’s Full Story – Episode 004
I did not want to forget any pain and hardships along with the challenges of keeping your energy up to empathize with my clients. I was not putting into practice what I was teaching.
Key Quote: “Mental energy takes up a HUGE amount of energy so if you don’t manage your mental energy, you’re GOING to crash.”
Any and all of these hits WILL take a toll on your energy.
Question Four – 9:46
How did you work through all of the difficulties of this major life crisis knowing that you didn’t cause most of it and all you could do is respond?
Full credit: Treva’s relationship with God was paramount and God gave her a “peace that passes all understanding”
Question Five – 12:08
Why did you make sleep a top priority and take the time out to sleep when most people would do the opposite and skip sleep. Why?
Nothing is going to mess with my sleep. I really guarded my sleep no matter what decision had to be made. I checked out and got my sleep.
You’re fooling yourself if you think you can beat sleep because your recovery will be so much longer on the back end.
When I get a good night of sleep, I feel like I can make a decision more spur of the moment because I feel sharp and on my game.
It all gets done but better because of rest.
Question Six – 15:04
What did you do to manage your energy during this time of your mom’s last days?
Nutrition – make the healthier choice vs the healthiest choice during this time
It was easier because my mindset was already to make the healthiest choice
I let myself have more caffeine than usual but even than still made a healthier choice.
One area I did NOT fudge on was water! I had water bottle stashed everywhere so it was a reminder.
Question Seven – 18:00
Why is water even more important during times of crisis?
Your body is trying to balance itself especially under stress and water is critical because it’s looking for vitamins and minerals from everywhere else to get into a ph balance.
Question Eight – 19:00
What else did you choose to do to make the “Healthier Choice?
Proactive with the margins – took an entire week off knowing of the stress I had just gone through and needed to recharge my energy.
I have to sacrifice this time to recover even though “if I don’t work I don’t get paid” since I’m an appointment-based entrepreneur.
I also needed time to really reflect and grieve from the intensity.
Even though it was difficult, I had to ask for help and people were willing to help once I asked.
Question Nine – 26:21
What did you feel you had to let go of?
The Energy Edge Podcast
Organization and Routine
Exercise (not everything but the normal)
Question Ten – 29:22
Give us some signs on what to look for when your body starts to cry out—“STOP”
Not sleeping well when you normally sleep well – this is an alarm
Fatigue – naturally we just push through it but we also need to address it
Mind won’t stop
Closing Thought Question – 30:51
Any closing thoughts after all you’ve gone through?
Everyone is going to go through a devastatingly difficult time so try and look for the good in the eye of the storm along with the life lessons that are gifts meant to be had during this time.
Ask: where are you at with your relationship with God especially during this time?
