Welcome to episode 042 with Marcey Rader
Here’s what is on this week’s Podcast…
Marcey Bio – 1:50
You’ve not always been on the road as a speaker, can you give us the back story to where you are now? – 3:34
Question Two – 4:40
Do you have any 1st day routines when you travel?
Question Three – 8:07
What draws or brings you energy on the road?
Question Four – 11:03
What drains energy for you?
Question Five – 12:36
What would you say hijacks your energy more than anything else on the road?
Question Six – 13:21
Do people have more control of their travel than they realize they do?
I think people make more of an excuse than a reason and we have more “reasons” on the road
People leave their good habits and behaviors from home and treat it like a vacation
We do things on the road we’d NEVER do at home – for me, drinking coffee (became my road habit)
Question Seven – 16:36
Tell me about your health journey and how you now have control of what you eat when you’re on the road?
Done over 100 major competitive events- but very high sugar and very high carb = “skinny fat”
Diagnosed with an auto-immune disease and completely over-hauled my nutrition
This poses a new challenge for me on the road but getting easier the past four years
Never leave home without “hangry snacks” – unsalted nuts with portion control / tasty bites (lentils, chic peas, etc) / wild planet sardines or salmon mixed with vegetables
Nutrition Energy Boost – 21:42
Mid Afternoon Elixir Drink:
- Water – large glass
- Liquid Chlorphyll – 1 tablespoon
- Cranberry Concrentrate – 1 tablespoon
- Lemon – half of a real lemon
5 Minute Energy Kickstart Promo – 22:26
Question Eight – 23:21
How do you handle your actual meals on the road?
Check with the organizer about food prep
Call ahead when I can to be prepared
Be discrete when talking to the server and not being “that person” who calls attention to themselves
Seek to respect the organizers and try to let them know ahead of time but say “I don’t expect you to cater to me but want to be prepared if I need to bring my own food”
Find Me Glutten Free App – location based
Question Nine – 27:14
How do you determine hotels you can sleep in, hacks, etc?
I set myself up for success:
- No caffeine after 2pm
- Go to bed early
- Travel with blue ray blocking glasses (as soon as I get into my room)
- Dream Essentials Contour Eye Mask
- Acoustic Sleep Phones
- Calm App
- Control temperatures
- Any kind of light – travel with binder clips / roll up a towel by the seam of the door / a small flash light to see as needed
Question Ten – 31:49
How do you avoid not coming home exhausted from traveling?
Setting myself up for success as much as I can
The biggest stress coming home as a female is the state of what the house is in when we walk in the door – if it’s not good it sucks my energy right out but if it’s good, I have the energy to give to my family
House Manager once a week came in and had the house clean and the vegetables chopped and it dramatically changed my energy
Key Thought: having a conversation with your spouse to make sure expectations are met and what could enhance a homecoming in order to have the “Best Me” coming home
Key Question: do you do as much as your spouse to prepare for you leaving?
Question Eleven- 37:00
Any closing thoughts?
Traveling for business is not part of your job, it’s a lifestyle.
If you act like it’s a vacation, it will catch up with you.
Need to “pick and choose”
Question Twelve – 38:25
What’s at stake for you if you’re energy is not on?
My entire business!
71% of business are from meeting planners that hear you speak so you can’t mask your B Game with caffeine and stimulants. You have to be there and present.
Question Thirteen – 39:31
